For now he is at peace in heaven a crown on his head.

Matthews Song

My son Matthew taught me more about life, than I think I ever taught him. He taught me that life is to be lived in the moment, and that every moment is an opportunity to make the best of it. Matthew taught me to be forgiving of others, accepting of myself and my own circumstances. Matthew taught me what unconditional love really is. He taught me how to see the positive in everyone, and everything.

The bible says "out of the mouths of babes and a child will lead them." For me Matthew was that child, he has shown me how to live, and die with dignity. My relationship with Matthew will remain with me, in my heart until I see him again. And I am committed to live out my life in a way that will honor his.

Matthew didn’t preach! he simply lived by what the bible refers to as the "fruits of the spirit."

"Love-Joy-Peace-Patience-Kindness-Goodness-Faithfulness-self control"

Matthew is a pure soul, a soul that touched so many other souls, as far as I’m concerned he is an instrument of god, because he has shown me through his short life, that like Jesus he could endure anything and still show love, and have concern for others. That is what I have learned from my little man who had so much wisdom, in such a short time here on this earth.

Whenever I think or want to act in a way that I know Matthew wouldn’t like, I see his little frown and I hear him say Dad! And it helps me correct my thinking, and then I see his smiling face and hear him say that’s good dad! that was always Matthew's answer whenever I asked him how he was doing, right to the end he would always say good dad. I believe Matthew is now in a good place, and I look forward to being with him again in that place where there is no more pain and suffering. In the spirit of my son Matthew I would like to personally thank everyone who was kind to my little boy.  I know right now Matthew is saying good dad, it’s good.

What happens when an inspiring boy uses the four powerful values of Hope, Faith, Courage and Love to overcome adversity? First-time young author Matthew Robert, Joeseph, Larrabee, Epp is all too familiar with this. Since the age of 2, the boy from Saskatoon and Fiske, Saskatchewan has successfully combated a rare form of cancer. But now, the 14-year-old is fighting the cancer relapse of his life. His book Hope and the Dragon is finally providing young cancer patients with something they've never had: a powerful story written by one of their peers, offering the strength to beat the illness. The story tells how a boy undergoing surgery to remove a tumour dreams of a magical land. While a dragon becomes the metaphor for the cancer, the boy receives four special powers to slay the demon. Beautifully illustrated by Maris Chisholm, Hope and the Dragon explores a personal life story - from surviving a major illness to embracing the support of loved ones. "I have Hope, Faith and Courage on my side and Love standing guard at my back. No Dragon in the world is a match for all that," says the boy in the book, based on Matthew's own courageous journey. Hope and the Dragon will certainly fill anyone with inspiration and tell them what it takes to survive a major challenge.
